Welcome to

PALMS CHURCH

"It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously – take God seriously."

OUR SERVICE TIMES

How To

JOIN PALMS CHURCH

The Palms community takes seriously our commitment to journey together in discipleship. We are not primarily members of an institution, but followers of Jesus Christ. We covenant to fellowship, grow, and serve together. Our journey is marked by mutual growth as we affirm each other, and hold one another accountable to a life of sharing God’s love and serving God’s mission.

Therefore we invite all those who are interested in becoming a disciple of the Palms community to one of four classes each year. There are two in the fall and two in the winter/spring. The classes will begin with a meal and meeting each other, as well as learning some of who Palms is a church. Then you are invited to a five-week small group experience on Sunday mornings to reflect and share some of your journey of discipleship as you discern how God is calling you to grow and serve in the Palms community. For more information on the next class, please contact Rev. Dr. Holly Inglis, or call the church office at (904) 246-0594 x 224. Also, please know that you do not have to become a disciple of Palms to be a part of our community. We welcome you to dive right in and begin serving alongside us, worshiping with us, and enjoying the life of faith at the Palms Oasis.

Joining Palms as a disciple is a prayerful and intentional decision. Our congregation values following God's call on our lives, and we expect and encourage Palms disciples to:

  • daily observe a personal time of devotion
  • weekly attend public communal worship
  • monthly participate in education or small group and participate in service
  • annually give a percentage of income to Palms
  • continually engage others in affirmation and accountability in their discipleship

FAQ

SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND
How should I dress?Expand

We are a beach community and while most people at Palms like to dress up for church, some come in jeans and t-shirts or shorts.  Feel free to come as you are.

What about the kids?Expand

During worship services, there is always nursery available for children ages 0-5.  Each Sunday we have a time for children as part of our Sunday morning worship.  Following the time for children, children three and under can go to our nursery, while children four years old to third grade go to Godly Play, which is a age appropriate, story-centered, journey through the Bible.

Do I have to give money?Expand

Like most churches, we do collect an offering at every service.  Don't feel like you have to give on your first visit, but please, say a quick prayer for Palms as you pass the plate.

What happens after worship?Expand

If you are a first time guest, come to the Information Center as we have a special welcome gift for you. Many people spend some time visiting after worship in our community area, Patten Hall; feel free to stay and mingle as you feel comfortable.

May I participate in communion?Expand

We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month during worship services and every Wednesday during our evening Evening Prayer service, which is a service of healing and wholeness.  Communion is open to all, so please participate as you are comfortable.
