NEW DISCIPLES
QUESTIONS ASKED BY GUESTS & NEW DISCIPLES
Joining Palms as a disciple is a prayerful and intentional decision. Our congregation values following God's call on our lives, and we expect and encourage Palms disciples to:
- daily observe a personal time of devotion
- weekly attend public communal worship
- monthly participate in education or small group and participate in service
- annually give a percentage of income to Palms
- continually engage others in affirmation and accountability in their discipleship
Sunday worship services take place in our sanctuary, while our weekly Evening Prayer service on Wednesdays at 6:30pm takes place in Hess chapel. If you have trouble finding the sanctuary or Hess chapel, just look for someone and they will be happy to direct you.
The entire service can be found in the bulletin that an usher will offer to you as you enter the sanctuary. There are several parts of our service that we say in unison, and the words for those parts are provided in your bulletin.
Nursery is available for children ages birth-5 during worship. We have a special time for children called the Children's Moment, which is part of our Sunday morning worship. Following the Children's Moment, parents may take their child(ren) preschool - kindergarten to our nursery located in room(s) 125/127, while children four years old - third grade are invited to make their way to Godly Play in room 214. Godly Play is a secondary worship space at the 11am service each week. It offers an age-appropriate, story-centered, journey through the Bible. *There is no Godly Play on the 1st Sunday of the month.
Children’s special worship bags help make Bible stories child-size. Children can draw pictures, read bite-size Bible stories or create something fun while they attend a worship service with their family. Please see an usher for a worship bag for your child.
Large print hymns are available from our ushers for the 8:30 and 11am services.
Hearing devices are available from any usher for those with hearing difficulties.
We are a beach community and while most people at Palms like to dress up for church, some come in jeans and t-shirts or shorts. Feel free to come as you are.

SERVICE RELATED QUESTIONS
Like most churches, we do collect an offering at every service. Don't feel like you have to give on your first visit, but please, say a quick prayer for Palms as you pass the plate.
If you are a first time guest, come to the Information Center as we have a special welcome gift for you. Following worship on Sundays, many people spend time visiting with each other and meeting new friends in our community area, Patten Hall. Feel free to stay and mingle as you feel comfortable.
We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month at 8:30 and 11 am and every week during our Evening Prayer service on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in Hess chapel. Communion is open to all, so please participate as you are comfortable.
