Take the Pledge
Join us for this special event to Revive Civility. Palms will host Dr. Carolyn Lukensmeyer, Executive Director of the National Institute for Civil Discourse.
Revive Civility empowers Americans to restore and call for civility in our democracy. Using tools created by the National Institute for Civil Discourse, mayors can issue Civility Proclamations and citizens can sign pledges and host civility conversations to help restore civility in our government and communities.
Register for a free ticket in the link below and please personally invite all those who are concerned about civility in our families, community, and country. Nursery provided. RSVP/ticketing is requested.
Held at Palms Presbyterian Church at 3410 Third Street S., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 in the Sanctuary at 7 pm – 8:30 pm, February 28th, 2018.
Americans are very concerned about the current state of our public discourse. Dr. Carolyn J. Lukensmeyer will share the research on Americans views of where we are and what needs to be done to restore the social norms of civility and respect. We will explore the current forces and structures that have led to the loss of civility and respect. More importantly, we will explore personal and practical methodologies to bring back civility and respect. Offering HOPE to our families, our community, our country, and our world.
The Initiative to Revive Civility invites Americans to take a personal pledge to model and promote civility and offer suggestions of what they can do to practice it in their community. The Initiative also provides program ideas and materials to help individuals take part in community conversations that bring together people of different political views so that they can listen to each other, build relationships and talk about ways to work together. Groups with ties in civic/political life, faith-based groups, businesses and young leaders from colleges and universities as well as concerned citizens are leading the way. The Initiative to Revive Civility is sponsored by the NICD in partnership with many other national, state and local partner organizations.
