Coming Together to Celebrate God’s World through the Arts

We glorify God with all our creative abilities. The Fine Arts ministry at Palms provides an opportunity to celebrate the gifts of God that come to us through the arts that touch all our lives and our deepest emotions. Throughout the year, the Fine Arts program offers a variety of programs of talented artists for the beaches communities.

Palms Presbyterian Church Fine Arts offers a series of 6 or 7 free concerts each year, and features performers with diverse and entertaining musical backgrounds. Previous Fine Arts seasons included Dances and Impressions of South America and Beyond, an All Russian program which featured pianist Victor Goldberg, as well as A Celebration of Young Artists and music of outstanding college choirs.

Celebration of Young Artists - September 10 - 7:30 p.m.
Season Premier

Join Palms as we celebrate the finest young musical talents in our area! Works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Shostakovich, Joplin, Meredith Wilson and others.

Cover the Town with Sound - October 23 - 3:00 p.m.

Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Quintet, Rhonda Cassano, flute; Claudia Minch, oboe; Marci Gurnow, clarinet; Anthony Anurca, Bassoon; Aaron Brask, French horn

Red Letter Jesus - November 18 - 7:30 p.m.

What did Jesus say? Brad Sherrill’s live dramatic performance of Jesus’ words from Matthew, Mark and Luke accompanied by a powerful multimedia presentation brings these transformative teachings and parables to new life for our times. Sherrill’s performances of Old and New Testament texts have reached over 200,000 people worldwide. “The Good Book gets even better” says The Washington Post.

Chanson du Soir - February 11, 2012 - 7:30 p.m.

Established in 2005, the Southern California natives have quickly garnered national recognition as a premier guitar and voice duo by being featured artists on concert series throughout the United States. Driven by a passion to share their art, Chanson du Soir has completed 10 tours of the US. The first composition dedicated to Chanson du Soir, “Music, When Soft Voices Die” by Brian Christopher Madigan is published on Clear Note Publications with several other works in the process of being published. Chanson du Soir’s debut CD, Melancholie et Espoir, was released on Abet Music. Concert is free and open to all. Nursery provided.

The Songs of Tin Pan Alley - April 21 - 7:30 p.m.

The phrase Tin Pan Alley refers not only to a bygone era of American song but to an actual section of New York City where the likes of George & Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Victor Herbert wrote their hits. By way of New York’s Rainbow Room and The Algonquin Hotel, join “Croon Prince” David Giardina (who actually lives in Tin Pan Alley) and pianist Paul Bisaccia as they celebrate this classic American songbook from the 1880s to the 1950s.
