Education FAQ's

Q. What time does Sunday school start?

A. Sunday school begins at 9:40 and ends at 10:40.

Q. How can my child get involved in Kids’ Oasis or Youth Ministry?

A. Just show up! We welcome newcomers and look forward to getting to know your child.

Q. Where do children go for Sunday school?

A. Children ages 3 year old through Kindergarten go to the Palms Preschool Building (Between the Education Building and Fellowship Hall). Children in 1st – 5th grade all meet together in the Drama Room on the 2nd floor of the Education Building.

Q. Where is Youth Sunday School?

A. The Youth meet in Fellowship Hall on the west side of Palms' campus. Middle schoolers meet in room 414, and Confirmation (9th graders) meet in the Youth Room. There are donuts every Sunday! High schoolers meet on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month for lunch and Bible Study.

Q. Where is Adult Sunday school?

A. The Present Word class is a weekly Bible study class that meets on the first floor across from the Nursery. All other Adult classes meet upstairs on the north side of the Oasis Garden. There is coffee and tea available in the Adult Sunday school hallway.

Q. Are there Christian Education opportunities that aren't on
Sunday mornings?

A. Yes! Youth Group for 6th-12th graders meets on Sunday nights, LOGOS for the whole family meets on Wednesday nights, and many other classes and groups meet throughout the week. Check out our calendar for all the details.

Q. What kind of Bible should I read at home?

A. There are many questions to consider when picking a Bible, and no one translation is the right one. What type of translation do you want? Do you want more poetic language, or a more exact English version of the original languages? Do you wish to have a study Bible or not? We would love to have a conversation about the types of Bibles available and suggest that you contact a pastor through the church office for more information.

Q. What is a good resource for daily devotional reading?

A. Palms provides copies of These Days, a daily devotional resource published by Upper Room Ministries. Ask an usher on Sundays or at the church office to receive a copy. We also have occasional devotional emails (particularly during Advent and Lent) written by Palms staff. Call the church office and we’ll put you on our email distribution list.
